Susan Jane Armstrong Thacker, 75, Fishers, passed away March 17, 2016. She was born October 9, 1940, in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of the late Donald Sr. and Ethel (Hawkins) Armstrong. She married Donald E. Thacker on October 13, 1961, which was also her parents’ 27th anniversary.
She attended IPS #91 and was a member of the 1958 graduating class from Broad Ripple High School. In 1960, she received her Associate’s Degree from Butler University, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.
Susie was an active member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, participating in the choir, prayer group, Thursday Bible Study, and a co-partner of the ALPHA program. She was also a Lay Director for the Zionsville Great Banquet. Susie loved to spend time with her family and to make a difference in people’s lives. Most recently, she knitted over 200 preemie caps for St. Vincent Hospital.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Donald E. Thacker; two sons, Mark (Pam) Thacker and Jeff (Karen) Thacker; four grandchildren, Stef (Dan) Soucy, Kyle Thacker, Craig Thacker, and Kelsie Thacker; brother, Donald (Sue) Armstrong, Jr.; sister-in-law, Marjorie Siddens; two nephews, Dr. Paul (Philippa) Siddens and David (Shawn) Armstrong; and a niece, Carrie (Marcus) White.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 1605 East 106th Street. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016, at the church, and also one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Orchard Park Presbyterian Church or Zionsville Great Banquet, c/o Zionsville Presbyterian Church.
