Shirley Ann Knight, age 86, passed away peacefully on August 27th, 2021. She was born November 30th, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lawrence Perry Hughes and Naomi Bernice Hankins. She graduated from Tech High School in Indianapolis and retired from Indiana Bell telephone company after 30 years of service as a telephone operator and later worked for Mill Creek School Corporation.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Willard Madison Knight; mother, Naomi Bernice Hankins; father, Lawrence Perry Hughes; and 3 brothers, Charles (Chuck) Corman, Larry Corman, and Steve Kelley.
Shirley is remembered by her love, compassion, and selflessness. She loved spending time with her family, had a passion for animals, loved to cook and bake, kept an immaculate house, and enjoyed crafting floral arrangements and wedding cakes.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Shari (Sharon) Staudt, her three children, Debra (Walker) Brink, Donald Walker Jr., and Christopher Walker Sr.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Thursday, September 2, 2021 with visitation from 12-1pm and a funeral service immediately following at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. Burial will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. Shirley’s family asks that guests please wear masks and respect social distancing.
