In the early morning hours of January 16th Shirley passed from her weary earthly body into the presence of Jesus. Shirley was born February 25, 1936 and was the daughter of Louis and Irene Linder. She lived in Camby, IN nearly all her life and was a graduate of Decatur Central High School. Shirley was a member of First Baptist Church of Plainfield, Job’s Daughters, Order of the Eastern Star and Camby Women’s Club. In the 1960’s, Shirley established and opened her own business, Rose & Ribbon Flower Shop in Camby. After selling the flower shop, she went to work at Economy Electric, she then worked many years for Westinghouse and finished her business career at Scherer Electric. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Warren) Goodman, Columbia, TN, her beloved sister, Dixie Spragg, Camby, IN her loving and faithful nieces and nephews for whom her daughter is most grateful, Christy (John) Arevalo, (Camby) Sylmar, CA; Tom (Chris) Spragg, Plainfield, IN, devoted caregiver Renie (Bruce) Batten, Camby, IN, Rhonda (Joe) Huberts, Greenwood, IN, brother, Jim (Valerie) Linder, Camby, IN, grandsons, Geoff (Stephanie) Newkirk, Wartrace, TN and, Greg Goodman, Spring Hill, TN, granddaughters, Brittney (Jay) Hart, Morgantown, IN and Brooke Linder, Martinsville, IN, great-grandchildren, Mackenzie (James) Nolan, Noah Newkirk, Kathryn Sego, Anna Grace Newkirk, Thomas Newkirk, Geoffrey Newkirk, all of Tennessee., great-nieces and nephews, Olivia Batten, Robert (Luisa) Spragg, Kelsea Spragg, Joe (Danielle) Huberts, Summerlynn Huberts, Serenity, Mea Hart, Aaron (Claudia) and Penny Arevalo, Robin Hope, Miles Hope, Emmett Hope, Clyde Hope and Paul Spragg. Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Mark Chasteen, grandchildren, Misty Zollars, Steven Chasteen and Markie Chasteen and her brother, Louis Linder, Jr. Visitation will be from 4pm until 7pm on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with the funeral service there on Friday January 27th at 11 AM, officiated by Pastor Joel Capizzi. Burial will be at Fairfield Friends Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Lung Association.
