Sandra Jeanne “Sandy” Sharp, 77, passed away October 20, 2021. She was born May 21, 1944 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Ned Alfred and Hilda (Becker) Sharp. Sandy was a west-sider for most of her life, graduating from Ben Davis High School in 1962, followed by Indiana Business College where she perfected her secretarial and administrative skills. Sandy was a secretary and bookkeeper before landing an administrative assistant position at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSOM) in the Department of Medical Genetics. She left there for a few years, working various secretarial jobs, before returning to IUSOM, this time as an administrative assistant in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. She retired from there in 2005.
Sandy was an excellent seamstress, making many of her own clothes and items for her house as well as sharing that talent by sewing for family and friends. She also loved crafting and making beautiful flower arrangements.
She was an active member of Job’s Daughter’s and Beta Sigma Phi in her younger years. Later she was a member of the Speedway Post 500 American Legion Auxiliary, Lizton Lions Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Plainfield.
Sandy is survived by her brother David (Debbie) Sharp, her sister-in-law Kathy Sharp, several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as friends. She is also survived by her beloved canine companion, Snowball. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Sharp as well as numerous beloved dogs and cats.
The family would like to particularly thank Fred and Lisa Froderman and Pam and Dan Kenninger for their love and devotion to Sandy these past few years. Their visits and many acts of kindness and help were so needed and appreciated.
Sandy’s final request was to be cremated. A memorial visitation and service will be held at Flanner Buchanan Floral Park on Friday, November 19, 2021. Friends and family may visit from 5-6 pm, with the memorial service starting at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brown County Humane Society (www.BCHumane.org), 128 S.
