Ronnie E. Barker
Indianapolis – Ronnie E. Barker, 72, of Indianapolis, died April 4, 2022 while he and his beloved wife Beverly, were on an RV trip out West. They had just visited their grandchildren in Albany, Oregon and were on their way to meet friends in Tucson, Arizona. Ronnie passed away peacefully with Beverly by his side in Silver Peak, Nevada.
Ronnie was born in Thomasville, Alabama on November 21, 1949, to father Ercel W. and mother Josephine Barker. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Ronnie retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years.
In 1964, he met Beverly and fell in love. Ronnie has told the story many times of when he first saw her – he knew he wanted to marry her. They were married on November 18, 1982. He was a member of the Clermont Church of the Nazarene. His love and devotion to his family, church and bible were evident throughout his life.
Ronnie is survived by his wife: Beverly Bligan Barker, Indianapolis, his son Randy Barker of Bainbridge, IN, daughters, Jennifer Whaley (Chris) of Bainbridge, IN, Lynn Bledsoe of Indianapolis, his sister Trenda Peters, Indianapolis, Sonja Thompson, TN, grandchildren: Cauy and Callie Jo Whaley, Aguili Reilly, and Felix and Aaron Barker-Robles.
He is preceded in death by his parents and by his sisters, Pam Tewell and Cathy Imhaussen.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, and will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial with Military Rites will immediately follow the service in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, also located at 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis.
