Robert Sprong

Robert E. Sprong, 67, of Indianapolis, passed away, peacefully at home, August 30th, 2022. He was born in Shelbyville, Indiana on June 7th, 1955, to parents Myron and Betty Sprong.

Robert graduated from Shelbyville High School.

He worked as a devoted store manager for Kroger for more than 40 years, a career he excelled at and enjoyed.

In 1990, Robert married the love of his life, Sherry. They shared many wonderful years together, and raised their daughter, Jessica.

Robert and Jessica had a special bond. Even as Jessica grew up, they always made time for each other, shared laughs, and spoke every day.

Robert was a hardworking, loving gentleman. In his younger years he enjoyed golfing. He loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting. He took pride in maintaining his home and yard. Robert was very well-read, and shared his sentimental side with Sherry, writing and reciting poems for her.

Above all, Robert adored his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry; daughter, Jessica (AJ) Dodson; siblings, Danny, Roger, Jimmy, and Johnny Sprong; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Bryan.

Visitation for Robert will be Saturday, September 3rd, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East from 3-6:30pm. A time to share memories will begin at 6:30pm.
