Robert L. “Mr. Bob” Tapscott 94, son of Nellie and George Tapscott, passed on June 4, 2018.
A WWII Veteran, retired after 42 years at Detroit Diesel Allison, Robert is survived by children; Debra (Allan) Koon, David (Margaret), Jefry (Anita), Lisa Drake, and Douglas (Marge), 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; and siblings, Ruth Perrin, Tom Head, Geraldine Starkey, Marion Tapscott, and George Tapscott.
Robert Tapscott was passionately involved in several organizations throughout his life. He served as a volunteer and board member for the Avon Public Library for 20 years, coached Avon Little League baseball for 10 years and was an active member at both the Avon United and Chapel Hill United Methodist churches. He was also a member of the Charles F. Frank Masonic Lodge #760 for 68 years. In his retirement, Robert served as the treasurer of the Chapel Pines HOA for many years where he took great pride in the work he did for the residents of the community.
In his free-time, Robert could be found spending his mornings at Silver Express just down the street from his home. He had many friends there and several great memories. He was also quite fond of spending time in front of his favorite slot machines at the casino.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 8, 2018 from 4PM until 8PM at Flanner Buchanan-Speedway, 2950 N. High School Rd. Service will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11AM, with visitation one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Life’s Journey of Avon.
