Robert (Bob) Gossman of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on July 17, 2021. He was born on January 17, 1931, in Jackson County, Indiana, to Hubert and Elsie Gossman.
He attended Arsenal Technical High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from Butler University. As an early adult, he was active at Brookside EUB Church. Later he was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church.
He served briefly in the army active duty and reserve naval service.
His family lived in Greenwood for 30 years where Bob served on various civic boards. Bob retired in 1996 as president of MD Pneumatics, a division of Tuthill Corporation in Springfield, Missouri. His previous employment included the FBI office, IBM, Basca Manufacturing Company, Arvin Industries and Schwitzer. In 2008, he wrote a book on Major National Issues and the Facts. He also contributed to various local and national editorial columns in print media. A private family graveside service was held. Memorial contributions may be directed to Shriners Hospital for Children and Brookside Community Church.
He was married to his lifetime love, Elizabeth (Liz) Irwin, for 66 years until her death in 2016. He had three younger brothers Harold, Joe and Wayne (deceased).
Bob was most proud of his three daughters Lynn (Greg) Morrison, Leslie (Mike) Holmes and Leigh Ann Erickson, and grandson Nicholas Erickson.
