Richard Charles Warrington, Jr., 71, of Carmel, Indiana and formerly of Springfield, Illinois passed away January 3, 2021 with his wife at his side. He was born March 8, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late Richard Sr. and Stella E. (Gasperac) Warrington. He married Cynthia L. Geick on February 14, 1985.
Rich received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois then served as an attorney for the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency until his retirement. He was a long-time member of the Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club and met his wife Cindy during one of the many ski trips he led. He was an avid canoeist, fisherman, backpacker and tent camper, and he loved fishing at Lake Hubert with his family. Rich was a voracious reader, a Civil War enthusiast and was known as “the walking encyclopedia” by family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Cindy Warrington; sisters and brothers-in-law; Pat and Dick Heller, Barb and Ron Leisher; and Orv and Bonnie Geick, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rich always brought love, joy and laughter to his friends and family and he will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richard C Warrington Memorial Fund that will be used for the benefit of The American Diabetes Association and Feeding America .
