Patrick Charles Gamble

Patrick Charles Gamble of Chicago (formerly of Monticello, IN) passed away on August 30 at the age of 33 after a courageous fight with medullary thyroid cancer surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 16, 1988 in Monticello, IN to Mark and Laura (Yauch) Gamble. He was a 2007 graduate of Twin Lakes High School and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University in 2012.

Patrick lived in Indianapolis from 2014 to 2020 and worked for United Actuarial Services. Patrick met his fiancé, Loretta, in 2017, and moved cross-country in 2020 with their two dogs to Oakland, California. Following their move, he worked as an Actuary at Milliman. In June of 2022, Patrick and Loretta journeyed back to the Midwest so Loretta could start her work at University of Illinois, Chicago and Patrick would continue at Milliman.

Patrick was an avid runner, biker, and swimmer. While at Purdue, he joined the Purdue Triathlon Club. He ran a number of marathons and half marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2017. He also competed in triathlons and formed some great friendships with his love of competing. In recent years he had found a love of surfing. He loved to bike the hills of Oakland and surf at Pacifica Beach.

Patrick was always just and kind. He was humble about his talents. His family found out, almost by accident, that he had a wonderful singing voice, and he was pretty casual about sharing that he qualified for the Boston Marathon. Despite his diagnosis, Patrick remained optimistic and was determined to live his life as he always had. Patrick enjoyed spending time with family and friends; special times were family holiday celebrations and spending vacations at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He looked forward to traveling the country and world. He loved Mexico wine country and Taiwan. He enjoyed chicken wine rosé, summer pinot noirs, and having a single cold beer while mowing the lawn.

He is survived by his fiancé Loretta Hsueh; parents Mark and Laura Gamble; siblings Katie Ready (Michael), Drew Gamble (Haimanot), and Jessica Finley (Zachary); nephews Cameron and Elliott Ready, and Aron and Zane Gamble; his dogs Jackson and Fig; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Tuesday, September 13^th at Flanner Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis from 11am-1pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 1pm.
