Patricia Ann Byrd   Obituary

Patricia Ann Byrd (Pat), 75 of Plainfield, Indiana passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022.  Pat was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Harold and Jean Brown on January 7, 1947.  Pat left this world peacefully, surrounded by love and family.

Pat married the love of her life, Stanley Richard Byrd in 1974. Pat and Rick were inseparable until his passing in 2018.

Even though Pat had a large family of seven children, she mothered any neighborhood child or family member who walked through her door as if they were her own. Pat created a home where everyone felt welcome. Her home was the place to go for a great meal, card game, family gathering or if you needed a place to unburden during a difficult time. Pat lovingly and tirelessly cared for her daughter Sheila for 40 years after an accident left her a quadriplegic. Pat was always there for her children and family; she spent her life caring for others and never asked in return.

Pat was a wonderful cook, and her potato salad is legendary among family gatherings. Pat’s favorite activities included spending time with her children, grandchildren and her numerous friends and family. Pat was an avid Colts football fan and loved attending games when able. Pat loved to travel, play card games and shop. Her smile and laugh will be missed dearly by all who knew her.  Pat’s legacy is the values she instilled in her children, Shelly Young (partner Mike Abner), Sheryl Lynch (Kenny), Sheila Byrd, Brian Harvey, Sean Byrd, Tony Harvey, Brad Harvey, her twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Pat set the bar on how to love selflessly and unconditionally.  She served others generously and without concern for herself.

Pat will forever live in the hearts of all who loved her. Pat is also survived by sister Sarah Watson, brothers Robert Brown (Terri), Philip Brown, Glen Brown (Cheryl), Larry Brown (Susan) and Rose Searfoss (Luther).  Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Jean Brown, sister Julia Sturgis (Jackson), husband Stanley R. Byrd, sons Brian Harvey and Sean Byrd, daughter Sheila Byrd and grandson Bobby Bunch.

A funeral service will be held at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, at 10:00 am on Tuesday September 27, 2022.  Viewing will be held on September 26, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will be at West Ridge Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
