Patricia Ann Bendler

84, of Indianapolis, passed away October 3, 2016. Patricia was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 20, 1932 to her late parents, Carl W. and Ruby (Close) Downard.

She worked as a school bus driver for Franklin Twp. Schools, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 173, Order of the Amaranth Court 1, Lady Bug Bowling League, and Duke Rugs Bowling League, and a lunch bunch group that met once a month. She enjoyed being outdoors and all the activities the outdoors provided, fishing, boating, skiing, you name it. She loved traveling, especially with her OES Chapter to meetings throughout the different states.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Bendler; son, Kenneth “Chip” Bendler; parents, Carl and Ruby; and her brothers, Carl Downard, Jr and Wallace “Bill” Downard.

She is survived by her children: David Bendler (Susan), Vicki Bendler, Carl Bendler (Nini) and Dale Fletcher Bendler; sister, Roberta Hugill (Bruce); sister-in-law, Rosanna Downard; uncle, Lawson Close (age 101); 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews whom all loved and adored her- but her favorite was Anita.

Calling will be held from 4pm until 8pm on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, where funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, October 7th.

Memorial contributions may be made in Patricia’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
