Nancy L. Cook, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 10, 2017 in Indianapolis. She was born in Wauseon, Ohio on August 17, 1935. She attended Delta (Ohio) high school and graduated in 1954. She was united in marriage to Russel Cook on January 20, 1957 in Wauseon, Ohio and enjoyed over 60 years of a wonderful marriage.
Nancy received her Registered Nursing degree from Toledo Hospital Nursing School in 1956. She worked as a Registered Nurse for Community Hospitals Indianapolis for over 20 years. She was active in her church and volunteered at The Sharing Place Food Pantry. Nancy enjoyed fun and fellowship with the Golden Mermaids. She relished spending time with her family and attending her children and grandchildren’s various athletic events and performances. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, playing in her church handbell choir, and volunteering at her church.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband and her children Bennett Cook (Patricia Naylor-Cook), Kevin (Kimberly) Cook, and Beth (John) Cavey. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Zachary Naylor-Cook, Jackson Naylor-Cook, Christa Cook, James Cook, Nicholas Cavey and Allison Cavey. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Leon (Jim) and Mary (Loreeta) Stiriz.
Nancy had a steadfast faith in God and was a tremendous example of a loving Christian woman. She was a member of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church and a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was baptized, confirmed and married in Trinity Lutheran Church in Wauseon, Ohio.
Memorial service will be held at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church on July 22, 2017 at 11 am, with a calling prior to the service at 10 am. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wauseon, Ohio on August 12, 2017 at 1:00 -3:30 pm.
