Nancy Joan Andrews, age 84, died on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, in Indianapolis. Nancy, daughter of Glen and Hazel Turner and sister to David Turner, was a graduate of Butler University. After college, Nancy participated in the civil rights movement and attended the March on Washington in 1963. Nancy was an accomplished singer, pianist, and artist, and she was an avid nature-lover, birdwatcher, hiker, and explorer. Nancy loved to read, and she studied philosophy and religion well into her middle age. Nancy traveled the world, including a two-year stay in the Philippines, as well as travels through India and many countries in Europe. Nancy is survived by her six children with her ex-husband, Gilbert Herod: Miriam Johnsmiller, Catherine Herod, Glen Herod, Beth Scaer, Andy Herod, and Angela Hauck. Nancy is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Heather MacMaster, Erica Skrok, Benjamin Phillips, Hannah Kent, Rachel Scaer, Taylor Herod, and Collin Herod. Nancy’s husband, Richard O. Andrews, died in 2016. Since 2006, Nancy lived at Hooverwood in Indianapolis. Nancy’s family would like to recognize the extraordinary people who took such great care of Nancy all these years. Everyone at Hooverwood showed Nancy tremendous affection, and she (and her family) really appreciated their exceptional care of her.
