Indianapolis, IN

Mildred E. Kirchhoff, of Indianapolis, passed away on September 17, 2022.

She was born October 3, 1921, in Lebanon, Indiana, to Rayburn and Marie Williams.

After retiring as Office Manager at Riley Dental Clinic for Handicapped Children, Mrs. Kirchhoff served ten years as a Hospice volunteer at Methodist Hospital where she served 2,522 hours of service both at the hospital and in-home visits with patients who were terminally ill. She commented, “The feeling I get from working with patients does more for me than I can ever give.”

After her husband retired, they began to travel extensively and visited several different countries. In addition, she spent time with neighbors and others realizing how much her working as a volunteer made her more aware of the needs of others.

She was a former member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir for 25 years. She currently is a member at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son Stephen [Venita] Kirchhoff, daughters Judith Kirchhoff Williams and Linda Kirchhoff [Stan] Worth. She has six grandchildren, Jeffrey [Sara] Glore, Julie [Brad] Koch, Gregory Richmond, Gary [Mary] Richmond, Matthew [Lindsay] Kirchhoff and Erin [Win] Kirchhoff. Included are five great grandchildren, Joshua Glore, Michael Vetch, Gabrielle Richmond, Ada and Eleanor Kirchhoff along with nieces Lisa Williams and Lynne Coffeen.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Kirchhoff, brothers Rayburn Williams, Jr. and Dr. Harold Williams.
