Mary Ruth Shortridge

Mary Ruth Shortridge, 80, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 30, 2015. Mary was born on January 13, 1935 in Westport, Indiana to the late Max E. and Carrie B. Humphrey. She is preceded in death by her brothers, William E., Max E. Jr. and Robert L. Humphrey.
Mary is survived by her husband, Gerald Glenn Shortridge, of 63 years. They were married in the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Indianapolis, Indiana in 1952.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Glenda (Bob) Russell of Mooresville; Rita (Gary) Roush of Indianapolis; son, Joseph (Joanie) Shortridge of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Carrie Hendry, Jennifer Wilson, and Benjamin Shortridge; step grandchildren, Christine Boyd and Deborah Skelton; Ethan, Madison, Matthew, and Isabelle Haley; five great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; sister, Anna L. Baldwin of Westport; nieces, Connie England and Donna Grimes.
Mary attended Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis. She was a member of Chapel Rock Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She attended the Women's Elective Sunday school class and served as an elementary Sunday school teacher for over 25 years. Mary enjoyed sewing, making quilts, and crocheting. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
The visitation will be held 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Flanner & Buchanan Decatur Township Funeral Center, 5463 Kentucky Ave., Indianapolis, Indiana. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral center. The funeral service will be held in the funeral center at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2015 with Rev.
