Mary Lou Adams

Mary Lou Adams, 85, of Carmel died peacefully on Tuesday May 30, 2023 following a battle with Pancreatic cancer and Parkinson disease.  Mary Lou’s life was defined by her faith, family and compassion for others.  She was born in Newark, NJ to Albert Bablitch and his wife, Marguerite Mann and was the oldest of six children. After graduating as the Salutatorian from high school, Mary Lou spent three years at Central State Teachers College.

On June 21, 1958, she married the love of her life, John (Jack) Adams and moved to Rockford, IL. Shortly thereafter, Jack and Mary Lou moved to Indianapolis, IN where they brought four children into this world. It was at that time Mary Lou returned to school and completed her Home Economics degree at Butler University.  In 1970, they settled in and raised their family in Carmel, IN.  She was the Director and Teacher at Pleasant Grove Pre-school and then a Home Economist for The Kroger Company.

In addition to being very active with her family emphasizing faith, education and community involvement, Mary Lou was heavily involved with the Catholic churches Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Elizabeth Seton where she and Jack were Founding Members. Mary Lou also loved to travel with Jack. Together, they have been all over the world. Mary Lou’s personal interests included playing bridge, baking, reading, gardening and the professional Home Economist Guild.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack, her parents, brother William Bablitch, sister Cathy (Don) Wachowiak and son-in-law Mike Vasil. She is survived by her daughters Margi Vasil, Lynne (Steve) Novak; her sons John (Janet) Adams, Greg (Amy) Adams; her sisters Bobbie (Fran) Roman, Rita (Steve) Eisenhauer and brother Steve (Elaine) Bablitch. She was also blessed with eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren all of whom she loved deeply.

The family will receive friends on the morning of Friday June 16, 2023 from 9-10:20am at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 10655 Haverstick Road, Carmel, IN 46033.  This will be followed immediately by the Eulogy at 10:20am and funeral Mass at 10:30am.   The burial will ensue at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.  Afterwards, guests are invited to return to St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church for a luncheon at 12:30pm.
