Mary Skinner was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away on January 19, 2022, in Indianapolis at the age of 89.
Mary was born to Azenith and Floyd Chandler on February 15, 1932, in Murdock, Illinois. After graduating from high school in 1950, she married her high school sweetheart James “Jim” Skinner. Together they had two children Christine and Sue Ellen.
After Jim’s rotation in the U.S. Army, the couple moved to Terre Haute, Indiana where they began to raise their family. In 1957, they moved to Indianapolis as Jim pursued a career in real estate. Mary was devoted to Jim’s calling in the Methodist Church and the two were very active in that community.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her love for her family, always being the first to call on birthdays and her thank-you notes.
Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sue and Joe Moore; her grandchildren Haley (Jeremy) Riffle, Travis (Lora) Moore and Lauren Baxter; her great-grandchildren Finn, Kinley, and Jack; and her brother Louis (Sue) Chandler. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and daughter Christine.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ovar’coming Together in Indianapolis.
