Marvin Bruce Scalf

Marvin Bruce Scalf (aka Redeye) of Indianapolis, IN died January 29, 2016 at the age of 83.

Marvin was born in Indianapolis to Robert and Pauline Scalf on July 16, 1932. He grew up in the Brightwood area. He attended and graduated from Arsenal Tech High School. He is a USMC Korean war veteran, as well as a USAF Veteran. Marvin worked for International Harvester for over 30 years. He then went on to work for the Indianapolis 500 for over 40 years and was a member of the elite Old Timers Club. He volunteered his time at Community Hospital for over 21 years. His memberships include 35 years as a Freemason (member of Irvington, Prospect, and Englewood Lodges), past Associate Guardian of Jobs Daughters, Order of the Eastern Star, and Past VFW Chaplain. He was a member of the Tuxedo Park Baptist Church for 40 years. He was also commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. An avid poet he was awarded the National Silver Poet award.

Marvin is survived by his children Mike (Sherry) Scalf, Pam (Chris) Maddox, Peggy (Chris) Wilson, and Billy (Kim) Morgan; sisters Barbara Fultz, Alice Story and sister-in-law Wanda Howard; grandchildren Melissa Maddox, Edward Maddox, Billy Morgan Jr., Patrick Morgan, Andrea Curry, Blake Bissonette, Katreena Bissonette, Michelle Scalf, Crystal Scalf, and Toby Painter; great-grandchildren Chandler, Iva, Holden, Bryce, Kilka, and Cadynce, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was a loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his wives Ina (nee Osborne) Scalf and Pamela (nee Powell) Scalf, daughter Kimberly Scalf, granddaughter Angi Painter, parents Robert and Pauline Scalf; siblings Thomas Scalf, Shirley Massingale, Robert Scalf, and Ray Scalf.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 2 from 2 to 8 PM at Flanner and Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington, Indianapolis with Jobs Living Cross at 6 PM. Funeral Services including Masonic Services and Eastern Star Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 3 at Flanner and Buchanan. Burial with military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
