Martin E. Mueller (Marty), Carmel, passed away August 2, 2016. He was born February 24, 1933, in Castleton, the son of the late Grant Luther and F. Evelyn (Elliott) Mueller. He married Glenna Funk Mueller, who preceded him in passing August 18, 2008, after 53 years of marriage.
Together with his wife, they owned and operated Hickerson Instrument Company, serving the surveying and construction industry for 37 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War. Marty was a member of the Scottish Rite, Shriners, Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion #253, and was a former member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed photography and had a darkroom in his basement. He loved ‘the lake’ and after vacationing as a child with his parents at Lake Tippecanoe in northern Indiana, he purchased a lake cottage there for his family to enjoy. Fishing, boating and watching the sunrise on his front porch at the lake were some of his favorite things. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his three children, Susan (Mark) McClain, Doug (Debi) Mueller, Diane (David) Scherb; nine grandchildren, Sarah McClain (Mark) Bird, Mary McClain (Jared) Fee, Timothy (Heather Biddy) McClain, Stephanie Mueller (Matt) Quimby, Allison Mueller, Jacob (Caroline Inman), Jessica, Jamie and Jaclyn Scherb; eight great grandchildren, Isaiah and Mason Bird, Elijah and Eden Fee, Hannah McClain, and Ryan, Noelle, and Vivienne Quimby; and a sister, Marianne Wilson.
