Marsha L. Cowart 77 was born at home October 21, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN to Harold Carter Goodall and Marjorie Lee Blackwell Goodall. She passed into paradise July 18, 2020.
Marsha attended Indianapolis public schools, Harry Wood High School and Attucks High School receiving a diploma from Clark College in 1985. She accepted Christ at twelve years old and was baptized by Rev. Manuel at South Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She was active in Usher board, BTO, and she took piano as well as drama classes and participated in recitals and plays. She dreamed of being an actress one day.
Marsha worked eight years for Wave Teck Wire located in Beech Grove. She was hired at General Motors Truck and Bus in August of 1972, retiring in 1995 after 23 years of service. In 2004 she returned briefly to work through the St. Vincent’s Stars program as a teaching assistant for Head Start. And she got extreme pleasure out of working with the children.
She was proceeded in death by her Grandfather Robert Louis Blackwell Sr, Mother Marjorie Lee Blackwell Goodall, Brother Harold Lee Goodall (Will Mae), William Edwin Hurt; sister Norma Jean Hurt.
Marsha was married to Worthy Cowart and has three surviving children from that union sons Steven Lee (Elizabeth); Jeffrey David and Daughter Kimberley Jo Cowart, so she leaves to cherish her memory. Her father Harold Goodall six grandchildren: Stephanie, Liza, Latasha, Jessica, Elisha Smith (Shawn), and Steven Lee Cowart. 7 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She has three special nieces Carmen Goodall Stevens, Regina and Cheyenne Hurt. Sister in laws Willa Goodall and Gwendolyn Hurt. Cousin like sister Fracetta Perkins and Host of other relatives and friends. As well as her beloved dog Oreo Cookie.
Marsha will be truly missed by all who knew her and loved her. She did as God asked and was good to his children and fed them. Her holiday dinners were not just famous for her delicious food, but for her open door. Her door was open to many who had no one else to turn to. She loved all children and took many in and loved as her own. I can almost her the lord saying, “well done daughter.”
