Mark J. Mowrey, 61, of Tuscaloosa, AL, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018.  He was born on March 2, 1957 in Indianapolis to the late Elmer Porter and Doris (Sherman) Mowrey. Mark was a 1976 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School and devoted 38 years of service to Community East Hospital.

Mark will be remembered for his kind heart and his need to help anyone he could. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He will also be remembered for his love of his football teams (Indianapolis Colts and The University of Alabama Crimson Tide) as well as his love of Hoosiers Basketball. We also can’t forget his love of Fantasy Football and his team The Hoosier Gangsters.

Mark was a quiet and reserved man with a heart of gold.

Mark is survived by his daughter, Kristen (Alexander) Bardill; grandchildren, Natalie and Gunnar Bardill; sisters, Pamela Griffith, Karen Shaul and Doreen Mowrey.  He is also survived by his loving companion of 10 years, Deborah Hathcock; and her children, Amanda (Alicia) Griffith and Aaron (Chelsea) Hathcock; and her grandchildren, Amelia and Benjamin; along with his K9 companion Isabelle the Dachshund Hound.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Linda Palmer; and brother, Dennis Mowrey.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 11am – 1pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East with funeral services immediately following.  Burial will take place in Washington Park East Cemetery.  Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
