Margaret Teresa Lang

Margaret T. Lang, 96, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2018 with her family by her side.

Margaret was born in Indianapolis on November 28, 1921 to Arthur C. Davis and Teresa M (Hoeping) Davis.  She was blessed with a long and happy married life with her husband, Robert Lang, for 64 years before his passing in 2013. Margaret’s love and commitment was so deep that she continued to recognize their anniversary most recently this past February telling all she was married for 69 years.

While her husband was her heart, her children were her joy. Mike (Milissa) Lang, Bill (Bonnie) Lang, Cindy (John) Pridemore, Debbie (Chuck) Wade, and Patty (Harry) Christensen.

Margaret was most proud of her four Grandchildren; Kenny (Kindra) Lang, Laura Sullivan, Matt (Abby) Pridemore, and Sarah Pridemore. But it was the next generation that gave her the grandest title, that of Great Grandmother. Bryan Pridemore, Ethan Pridemore, Mason Lang, Audrey, Lang, Maddox Lang, Jimmy Sullivan, Charlie Sullivan, and Kaydence Greene.

She considered raising her family as her most important career, but she held many jobs outside the home. Sales clerk at Sears, Cafeteria worker at Brebeuf High School, and a clerk at a local gift shop.

When asked if she served in the military, she quickly responded that she worked at Curtis Wright during World War II helping build planes for the war effort.

Bob and Margaret were charter members of St. Monica Catholic Church.  They participated in many activities within the church.  Margaret was a founding member of the Sunshine Club.  They both worked for 17 years at The Lords Pantry.

Margaret was well known for her bread making. Whenever she made bread the scent seemed to call all the neighborhood children, who made a quick bee line to her kitchen table. Sewing was a passion of Margaret’s. All of her children were given one of her special hand sewn stuffed dogs. That included grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even babies at St. Vincent. She made more quilts than we could count and continued to do so up until her health prevented her from doing so at the age of 96.
Having been raised as a farm girl, she kept her hand in the dirt, with a large backyard garden and flowers everywhere. This beauty that she and her husband created provided a peaceful background for her love of bird watching.
Viewing will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at St.  Monica.
