Margaret Moore Davidson

December 28, 1923 — March 24, 2022

Carmel, Indiana

Margaret Moore Davidson crossed over March 24, 2022, of natural causes.
Margaret began her life December 28, 1923 in Hartlepool, England. She was born to Mary Elizabeth and James William Moore, and was the last survivor of 8 children. She grew up in a time when England was troubled by war and became part of the British Military as a member of the WAAF of the Royal Air Force. During World War II, Margaret met an American soldier, George Baker Davidson. The two married in England and Margaret sailed to the United States on the Queen Mary to meet George, who had shipped back with the American Army.

Margaret and George resided in the New England area, moving often and beginning a family of their own. George continued his college education, while Margaret maintained the household and cared for their four children. Ultimately, George took a position as a Special Agent with the FBI and the family moved to Indianapolis. Margaret gained employment at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, where she served as a Department Head and received many awards and accolades.

Margaret and George shared a love of dance, dining, and travel. She was an aficionado of the English language and had a particular affinity for words to the point where she actually read a two volume edition of the dictionary. She had a love of poetry and would often recite poems from memory. One of her favorites, “If”, by Rudyard Kipling, exemplifies the way Margaret chose to live her life. The poem begins: “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs,” and continues on about maintaining a centered and calm presence in the midst of the chaos of life.

Margaret was predeceased by husband George B. Davidson, and daughter Patricia Manson. She is survived by children Jeanne Corydon (G. Patrick), Peter Davidson, Dennis Davidson (Brenda); grandchildren Jamie Corydon, Jeff Corydon (Lindsey), Sarah Dewey (Brad), Nick Davidson (Molly); great grandchildren Maxim Payne, Kaylee Corydon, Brooks & Beckett Dewey. Margaret will also be missed by her loving family in England.
