Margaret Johnson

Margaret Johnson, 85, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2020 following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. A life-long Baptist with a deep faith in God, Margaret was one of eight children born to Leslie and Clarence Morrison. Born in Alabama and raised in Virginia, Margaret and her husband, Carl H. Johnson, relocated to Indianapolis to begin a family. She worked in the Wayne Township school system as a cafeteria worker and enjoyed many friendships. She loved to cook traditional southern dishes for family and friends.

Margaret is survived by daughters Susan (Matt) Cornacchione and Carolyn (Ken) Haag; grandchildren Amie (Chuck) Brown, Allison Haag, and Austin Haag, step grandchildren Teri (Jeff) Wood and Matt (Allison) Cornacchione, great-grandchildren Sebastian, Arabella and Emmersyn Brown and step great-grandchildren Even, Jacob, Sarah Tharp, Mary Wood and Elizabeth Cornacchione. Three siblings survive, A. G. Morrison, Douglas Morrison and Mary Richards.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Carl H. Johnson who passed in January 2000. Margaret’s life was focused on family, reading the bible, watching cowboy and horror movies, soap operas, shopping (especially garage sales) and listening to gospel music. She was the family caregiver for her own mother in her final years.

A private family service will be held on March 12 at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
