Marcia Peck Evans

March 18, 1957 — October 15, 2015

Marcia Evans passed away at home on Thursday, October 15th.

She is survived by her husband David S. Evans and children John Peck Evans, Julia Montgomery Evans, and Claire Montgomery Evans, mother Carolan Peck, twin sister Barbara (Mike) Blickman, sisters Cathy (Jim) Crafton and Susan (Bill) Van Huss, brother Andy (Cindy) Peck, and many nieces and nephews.

Marcia was born in Indianapolis on March 18, 1957 to Carolan Liebrich Peck and the late Jack Peck and grew up in the Meridian Kessler neighborhood. She attended School 84 and Broad Ripple High School. Marcia graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1978 with a degree from its School of Optometry. At IU she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.

Marcia married David in Meridian Street Methodist Church in 1983. Together they raised their family in Indianapolis. Marcia spent many happy summers with her immediate and extended family in Pentwater, Michigan where she loved Lake Michigan and the life of that community.

She was a talented photographer and gardener, and it was a welcome sign of the changing seasons when Marcia decorated her topiary bunny. She had the knack of taking beautiful pictures, not only of her own family, but of everyone else's. Both her home, and her friends homes, were filled with those images.

Marcia never knew a stranger, and her warmth and generosity of spirit earned her the love and devotion of a wide circle of friends. Her three children were her greatest pride and joy. All three graduated from Cathedral High School and Purdue University before embarking on careers of their own.

Marcia's life was filled with service to her family, friends and neighbors, and several philanthropic organizations. She will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched with her care and kindness.

Funeral services were private, and a memorial celebration of Marcias life is planned for the spring. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple.

Contributions in Marcias memory may be made to Meridian Street Methodist Church, 5500 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208.
