Madeline Elaine Palmer, age 88, died at home on May 14, 2021. She is survived by her children: Patricia and John Nichols, Don and Carolyn Palmer, Barbara and William Tait, and Marsha and Guy M. East, along with 13 grandchildren and 24+ great grandchildren; sister in law, Julie Zaring; and 15 nieces and nephews. Her parents, Doyle and Gladys Zaring; husband, Eldon D. Palmer; and brother, Duane Zaring all preceded her in death.
Elaine was a lifelong resident of Nora in Indianapolis, Indiana and enjoyed winters in Cape Coral, Florida for many years. She attended the original Nora School, Broad Ripple High School, and Purdue University. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and a P.E.O. for 65 years.
Throughout her life, Elaine was a dedicated Wife, Mom, Grandma, and GG, enthusiastically cheering on the grandkids, the Butler Bulldogs, and Purdue Boilermakers. Staying up to date with technology from the start, she loved frequent updates from family members and wonderful friends. Never one to preach or lecture, Elaine radiated her faith. As a lifelong learner, a gracious encourager, and a wise businesswoman, she also treasured her business family at Palmer Trucks and Pebble Brook Golf Club. “Mrs. Palmer” made an effort to listen carefully, ask good questions, and always be appreciative and encouraging. Her beliefs were crystal clear without drama or hysteria. Live with dignity, courage, and gratitude. No matter what: love unconditionally, treasure your people, and stay positive.
Elaine Palmer was our role model and cheered us all on with continuous love and support. We will miss her so much and cherish her legacy of love.
