Loretta M Anderson

March 20, 1933 — January 5, 2019

Indianapolis, Indiana

Loretta M. (Armstrong) Anderson, of Indianapolis, went into the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on January 5, 2019. She was born March 20, 1933 to Johnathan and Alvergie Armstrong and grew up on the southeast side of Indianapolis. She received her Diploma from Arsenal Technical High School and later pursued training as a medical aide assistant. Loretta worked for a medical doctor performing office tasks and worked as an aide in a nursing home.
However, Loretta missed her true career calling, as she was a gifted artist and seamstress. A few of her many accomplishments consisted of designing dolls, their faces, hair, clothing and building swings for them to sit and suspend from the ceiling in baby nurseries or kids’ rooms. Her “Raggedy Ann and Andy” dolls were top-notch and orders came for her to create more. Her portfolio of sketches to art school were met with approvals and further interest to pursue were halted by her desire to serve the Lord and put her kids first. In her devotion to teach children about Jesus, she created large felt story boards depicting scenes and cut out figures representing characters in the Bible, as she taught Sunday School at Calvary Tabernacle.
Loretta loved family gatherings and had an awesome sense of humor. Loretta would laugh until she cried. When the camera panned the room, Loretta would always make faces, which provoked everyone to do the same thing. Getting a serious family picture was a challenge but fun along the way. We laughed until our stomachs hurt.
Loretta was fearless in protecting her kids as they grew up. Today, all her kids realize the sacrifices she made to put them first above her goals to satisfy her own dreams. She was selfless and giving until she had nothing. However, for those of us who know the Lord, through his “word”, we believe God has built her heavenly mansion beyond the riches of earthly understanding and that the Creator of Life is showing her the power and glory of heaven.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Roy Lee Anderson, her first born child Donald Roy Anderson, her brothers, Leslie, Earl and Herbert Armstrong, her sisters Alberta (Armstrong) Hartl and Elsie (Armstrong) Hunt. Surviving to cherish her memory are her three children, David Roy Anderson, Jonathan Edward Anderson, Karen Lee (Anderson) Laymon, son-in-law Mark Allen Laymon, along with two grandchildren Seth Aaron Laymon, David Roy Anderson II, one great grandchild Makenzie Hardwick Anderson, and her two sisters Marilyn Bell and Carolyn Snyder Johns, all of Indianapolis.
