Lois Evelyn (Britton) Lee, 89, of Beech Grove, IN, passed away on September 22, 2019.
She was born on March 12, 1930 to the late Clay H. Britton and Ora M. (Hixon) Britton in Paris, IL. Lois attended Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, and was a member of the Fawns Sub-Deb club, Daughters of the American Revolution (Rockville Chapter) and Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Before becoming a wife, mother and homemaker, she worked as a secretary at Bridgeport Brass, Chrysler and Naval Avionics. Lois served for over 40 years as the Secretary/Treasurer of Indiana Heating, and did volunteer work for the Little Red Door, Society for the Blind, and the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). As one of the founding members of Holy Spirit, she served many years as church secretary. Lois enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing Euchre, fishing, dancing, travel with family and friends, and old time country/gospel music. She particularly looked forward to her monthly lunches with the Fawns Club who have continued to meet regularly for over 74 years.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John E. Lee, her parents, sister Edna (Britton) Burke of Elizabeth, NJ, brothers Francis, Richard and Howard Britton. She is survived by her children John, Julia and Jeffrey Lee along with many nieces and nephews.
