Linda Jean Martin, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, February 6th, 2023. She was born September 7th, 1946, to parents Thomas and Martha Osborne.
Linda grew up on the East side of Indianapolis, and graduated from Howe High School, class of 1964. She continued her education at Ball State University, where she received her Associate’s degree.
Over 56 years ago, Linda married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Michael Martin.
For several years, Linda worked as an administrative assistant at Eli Lilly, until she had her first child. As her family grew, she was an amazing stay-at-home mom and homemaker. Later she returned to the workforce, serving as the Dean’s secretary at Lawrence Central High School, in Lawrence Township, and later as an administrative assistant to the Vice President of Roche Diagnostics until she retired.
Linda was a loving woman with a magnetic personality. She was an active member of Castleton United Methodist Church, where she was very involved in “Mom’s Days Out” and Sunday School. Her faith was very important to her. She served as the President of the PFO for Lawrence North High School. Linda adored her family, always very involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s interests and school activities. She enjoyed playing golf with her husband and friends. Caring for her home and flowers brought her much happiness.
Linda was incredibly strong. She fought a yearlong battle with glioblastoma multiforme. She accepted every treatment with bravery and grace. She continued to live her life caring about and loving on her family and her lifelong friends.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Linda is survived by her husband, Michael; children Alicia Stevens (Rick), Andrea Logan (Chris) and Michael Martin; grandchildren Emily Murphy (Joe), Jacob Stevens, Nikolas Martin, Sofia Martin, Sara Logan, Michael Logan, and Natalie Logan; one future great-grandchild; brother Thomas Osborne-Arizona, and special Aunt Carol Major-Pennsylvania
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Linda will be Friday, February 10th, from 5-9pm, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East. Additional visitation will be Saturday February 11th, from 10-11am. Her funeral will begin at 11am. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
