79, of Indianapolis, passed away September 16, 2020. Lew was born on May 31, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana as the son of Merle and Frances Whalen.  Lew married Judith Miller on December 17, 1960

Lew had been employed by and retired from AAA Warehouse Company as a fork-lift operator.  His passions were hot rods and model trains.  He was a member of the Indy Idlers car club and is well known for his award winning 1937 Plymouth pick-up truck.

Lew is survived by his children; Sally Leahy of Columbus, OH, and Steve (Shelley) Whalen of Jasper, IN; companion, Eunice Hawk; grandchildren, Cole Leahy, Sarah Brilhart, Quinn Hogan, Catherine Leahy, Hannah Whalen and Noah Whalen; great grandchildren, John Woodruff, Elaina Leahy, Mara Woodruff, Logan Wells, Lily Brilhart and Emma Brilhart; brother, Clyde Whalen; and sister, Norma Moore.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith (Miller) Whalen; parents, Merle and Frances Whalen; sisters, Betty Whalen and Judy Sparks; and brother, Jim Whalen.

Visitation will be held on September 21 from 12-2 at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East with a graveside service immediately following at Washington Park East Cemetery.
