Leonard Dick Spikermans, 83, of Carmel, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 14, 2022, reuniting with his wife, Ans Spikermans. He was born on June 6, 1939, in Monster, The Netherlands to the late Willem Cornelis and Petronella Geertruida (“Nellie”) (DeWinter) Spikermans.
Leo married the love of his life, Ans Jannigje Brandt, in The Netherlands on February 2, 1964, and celebrated 35 years of marriage until her death in 1999. In 1964, they immigrated to the United States and built a beautiful life for themselves and their children.
In 1964 Leo worked for Speedway Volkswagen/Mazda. He was recruited in 1991 by Tom Wood Lexus Sales Department, accruing numerous accolades, until his retirement.
Leo loved music and was always entertaining during family gatherings, playing guitar and singing memorable songs of his youth. He enjoyed completing daily crossword puzzles, watching Days Our Lives and most of all cheering on the Ajax soccer team. Leo always enjoyed sharing stories with his grandchildren of his early years in Amsterdam. Most importantly, he had deep, unconditional love for his family and friends all over the world.
Leo is survived by his children Steven Spikermans, Monique (Mieke) Spikermans, and Amy Spikermans-Black (Douglas Black); grandchildren Megan Spikermans (Alan Wilberding), Keaton Evans-Black, Anneke Black, Jackson Black; siblings Eda Peeters, Will Nileson, Hans Spikerman.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Wednesday, November 30 at 10:30 AM.
Leo’s Celebration of Life will follow immediately after services.
