Larry Gene Boyer, 78, of New Palestine, Indiana, passed away on October 6, 2020. He was born in Richmond, Indiana to parents Paul and Mary (Holtzel) Boyer.

In 1966, Larry met the love of his life, Linda. They spent 53 years together. He enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. Additionally, he looked forward to trying new restaurants and indulging in desserts.

From 1964 to 1966, Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army. He received two medals of distinction during his service: the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for Marksmanship.

He earned two degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue University. He was a proud alumnus and regularly attended Purdue football games as well as sported Purdue license plates. Furthermore, he was an avid sports fan and was a Colts season ticket holder for 25 years.

Larry was a production superintendent for Ford Motor Company for many years before retiring.

Larry was a loving, hardworking man, with many hobbies and interests. He liked to read mysteries, watch westerns, go shopping and to the movies, and volunteer at the Indiana State Museum.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his brother, James; his two children Troy (Carolyn) Boyer, and Stacey Allred (Brian); six grandchildren RJ, Megan, Jordyn, Trenton, Aaron, and Miriam and one great-granddaughter, Charlotte.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for Larry will be Sunday, October 11th, from 3 p.m.-7 p.m., held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East Funeral Home in Indianapolis. His funeral will be Monday, October 12th, at 11 a.m. at the same location. Larry’s final resting place will be at Washington Park East Cemetery.

Donations would be appreciated to a summer camp program created by Larry’s daughter, Stacey, called Summer Learning Fun at Camp Adventure. The program is in its 4th year and serves elementary-aged children in Delaware County primarily from low-income families. The program is entirely funded through donations and grants. Ball State University students who want to become teachers plan the activities and are mentors and counselors to the children.

Larry placed a high value on education and modeled a strong work ethic his whole life. Donations made in his name would allow for him to be listed on the back of all the children’s t-shirts.

For more information about the camp, please visit the following website https://sites.bsu.edu/summerlearning/ or watch a short video about the camp here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2lQspV2dVU
