Kathryn "Katie" Lee Leach

Kathryn “Katie” Lee Leach, 57, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family after a long battle to cancer. She was born in Orange County, California on November 1, 1960 to the late Willard and Patricia (Burkhart) Vangen.

Katie grew up in Colorado, where she loved riding and competing with her horse, Jeepers. After graduating from Northwestern State University, Katie moved back to Denver, Colorado where she met the love of her life, Michael Paul Leach III.  The two were married on July 2, 1988. They had three beautiful daughters, Amanda, Amy, and Annette. Katie’s greatest joy in life was being a mother to her beloved daughters.

Katie was a kind, generous, and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Family and friends were her passion and delight. Everywhere she lived, she turned friends into family. Katie leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

Her parents, Willard and Patricia Vangen, and her father in-law, Michael Paul Leach II, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; her three daughters, Amanda (Harry Tryon), Amy, Annette; sister, Sally Barnes; brother, Jeff Vangen; sister, Mary Sutton; mother in-law, Juliana Leach; three brother in-laws; four sister in-laws; 16 nephews and nieces and many more beloved family members.

The family wishes to thank all who loved and cared for her during her last days. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, in Indianapolis on Friday, October 19^th, 2018 at 11:30 am with visitation from 10 am till mass time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to cancer research.
