Judith "Judy" Lynne Lehr (Boyd)

March 25, 1938 — March 14, 2019

It is with sadness that the family of Judith Lynne (Boyd) Lehr (Judy) announces her passing on March 14, 2019, at the age of 80 years.  Judy was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 25, 1938 to Lynn Edward and Ethel Leigh (Jordan) Boyd.  Judy had four children, oldest to youngest:  Terri Harmon, Jeff Lehr (Sandy), Tony Lehr (Susie), and Wendi Wright.  Judy will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Sarah, Joe, Andy, Cliff, Sharon, Lauren, Casey, Kim, Ashley, Melanie, Stephanie and Brian.  She also leaves behind several great-grandchildren.  Judy is survived by two sisters, Jacquelyn Morgan and Joan Tillery.  Judy was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Kenneth (Jum) Lehr, of 62 years, a son-in-law, Joe Harmon, and two brothers-in-law, Ernie Morgan and Ralph Tillery.

Judy graduated from Martinsville High School in Martinsville, Indiana in 1956.  She lived with her late husband in the same little country home in Martinsville for well over 50 years, and shared many happy memories raising their four children together.  Judy and Jum moved to Indianapolis in June 2015 to be closer to their adult children.  Judy quickly made friends with her new neighbors, and enjoyed her Crestwood Village West family.

Judy worked intermittently throughout her life to help support her family, and she retired from the Card and Gift Gallery in Indianapolis with over eight years of service.  Judy is also a past member and board member of the Hoosiers Sharing Precious Moments Club and Cherished Teddies Club.  Her collection of Cherished Teddies and Precious Moments figurines brought her great joy throughout her years.  Judy was also a member of Our Shephard Lutheran Church.

Judy kept busy with her crafts, which included tole painting, quilting, embroidery, and sewing.  Many family members still decorate their homes during the holidays with some of Judy’s many beautiful creations.  Judy was always loved helping others, and most recently, she worked with her neighbors to create colorful cards for hospital and hospice patients..  Judy also considered herself a serious genealogist, and spent considerable time with family and friends tracing both family’s histories.  Her efforts resulted in numerous binders and charts of family histories, stories, and photos.

A funeral service for Judy will be held on March 22, 2019 at 1p.m., at Flanner Buchanan—Floral Park on Holt Road, Indianapolis.  Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery across the street from Flanner Buchanan following the service.  Visitation for Judy will take place from 5pm to 8pm on March 21, 2019. Judy’s favorite Bible verse was the 23es Psalm.  Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Judy to DaVita Dialysis, the American Heart Association or Our Shephard Lutheran Church..
