Judith A. Hammond, 82, of Indianapolis passed away February 14, 2022. She was born on October 13, 1939, in Indianapolis to the late Arthur “Ray” and Grace (Thompson) O’Connor.
Judy lived in Indianapolis all of her life, largely as a homemaker, but she did work part-time for 25-years at St. Jude Catholic school cafeteria. She was a caring, compassionate, fun-loving person who loved her family more than anything and relished opportunities to help others. Judy enjoyed shopping, reading magazines, playing cards (both Euchre with the couples and Canasta with the ladies) and making a pan of brownies or a cheese ball for just about any occasion.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Larry; her only sister, Mary Brinkman; and a younger brother, Thomas O’Connor. Judy is survived by her children, Sherryl Hammond, Guy Hammond, Rick (Susan) Hammond, Ken (Michelle) Hammond, and Chris (Kelly) Hammond; her nine grandchildren, Kelly (Wayne) Roberts, Paige (Brad) Hurshman, John Toler, Jason (Sky) Cantwell, Mallory (Dylan) Barnes, Erika, Connor (Ross) Carter, Megan and Jack; and five great-grandchildren: Xavier & Sawyer Roberts; and Landon, Blakely & Reese Hurshman; along with her five brothers: Art, Mike, Ron, John, & Gale.
Friends and family may call from 4-8 PM on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday at the Funeral Center, with additional visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
