Rev. Joseph Donald (Don) Freese, 96, of Chatsworth, CA, passed away January 29, 2019. He was born to the late Francis and Hattie Freese in Bethesda, Ohio on November 24, 1922. He attended Eastern Nazarene College, where he met his future wife, Freda I. McKitrick. Don Freese graduated ENC with a Bachelor of Arts in 1944. He then attended the Nazarene Theological Seminary where he received his M. Div. in 1951. He later attended the University of Michigan and received his M. A. in Psychology in 1970.
Don and Freda Freese pastored Nazarene churches in Ohio, Florida, Michigan, and Colorado before retiring to Indianapolis, IN in 1991. After retirement, Don continued in part time ministry at the First Church of the Nazarene of Indianapolis. Don and Freda had a long career together in ministry for more than 50 years.
Don is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Freda I. Freese, and is survived by his three loving children and spouses, Kenneth B. Freese and Mary M.Freese, Linda F. Vidito and James D. Vidito, and Paulette M. Sark and David P. Sark, as well as 9 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 4-8PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN. Additional visitation will be held the following day Friday, February 8, 2019 from 10-11AM with funeral services to begin at 11AM at First Church of Nazarene, 9401 E. 25th St., Indianapolis, IN 46229 with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
