John William McGuire, 85, of Fishers, Indiana, joined his wife in eternal peace on May 10, 2020. Born on October 27, 1934, John was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L. McGuire of Fishers, his daughter Kathy (Wayne) Miller, his sisters, Jane, Fern, and Ruby, and all of his sweet pets. John was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School where he met Patty Jett, whom he married on June 11, 1954. He served seven years in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He was an engineer at Buehler Corporation where he designed helicopter engines, and then General Manager of Polar Ice Company. He later purchased and operated Polar Ice for over 15 years. Upon retirement, he drove a school bus for Carmel Schools and thoroughly enjoyed his little riders…and they loved him too. Like all the McGuire family, John loved his dogs and welcomed any animal that needed a home.
John was a member of the Scottish Rite, Millersville Lodge #126. He served as a Stephen Minister and was a member at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. A private burial will take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. John is survived by his daughters, Kristi (David) Simonett and Kelli (Jason) Jacobs, his seven grandchildren, Ryan, Graham, and Colin Miller; Meghan and Jonathan Simonett; Natalie and Kathryn Jacobs; and his great-granddaughter, Maya Miller. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hamilton County Humane Society in his memory.
