John William Kelly Jr, 77 of Carmel, Indiana passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023. John was born November 1st, 1945 in New York City to the late John and Mary Kelly.
John was raised in Detroit, Michigan and attended Catholic Central High School where he played football and ran track. He began his career in finance with General Motors at Detroit Diesel and relocated to Indiana to work at Allison Transmission where he eventually retired after working with great colleagues and friends. He loved his family dearly and cherished any opportunity to spend time together. He and his late wife Karen shared a passion for travel and were fortunate enough to see numerous countries across five continents.
Two funeral services will be held for John. The first service will be in Northville, MI on August 4, 2023, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Dr., Northville, MI 48167. Friends and family are invited to gather from 10:30 am until the service begins. A second service will be held in Indianapolis, IN on August 19, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 9001 Haverstick Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
John is survived by his sons, Brian J. Kelly and Jeff W. (wife, Rose) Kelly; grandchildren, Eva, Pearl and Cora Kelly; brothers and sister, Mike, Patty, Tim, and Doug.
