John Sigmund Hegyi, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2019. John was born in Rensselaer, IN on August 28, 1936. He was a strong and great man. He served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. During his career, John worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer with NASA and Military Aircrafts. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus #3228, and the American Legion Post 34.
John was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Danuta R. (Radziwill) Hegyi; son, John J. “Jeff” Hegyi; daughters, Jennifer M. Babbitt and Christina R. Hegyi; grandchildren, Zachary Babbitt and Derek Hegyi; as well as many other loving family and friends.
Friends may call from 2pm until 6pm on Sunday, January 6, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan- Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave., Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Monday, January 7th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 5333 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, where friends may call from 10am until the mass time. Burial with military honors will follow services in Calvary Cemetery.
