John L. Speidel Sr.

John L. Speidel, Sr., 81 of Carmel, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023.  John was born October 1, 1941 in West Chester, PA to the late Roger W. Sr. and Eleanor Speidel.  He grew up in Crafton, PA and was a graduate of Purdue University.

John worked in the civil engineering field his entire career.  He started when he graduated college and did not retire until the end of last year.

John was a member of Woodland Country Club and was an avid golfer.  He enjoyed all sports, including high school athletics, Purdue, and all things Pittsburgh.  John could fix anything and was always looking for his next project.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 23 at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel.  A private family service will be held Friday at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.

John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary; children, Eleanor J. (Kenton) Smith, Lesley Smith, John L. (Kelly) Speidel, Jr., William R. (Sarah) Speidel, Ann S. (John) Kaiser; grandchildren, Connor and Olivia Smith, Kayley and Matthew Featherston, Allison and Emily Speidel, William and Julia Speidel, and Emma, Jack, and Michael Kaiser; great granddaughter, Gabriella Wheatley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roger W. Speidel, Jr.
