John F. Davis, 67, passed away at his home in Fishers, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 13, 2017. He was born on July 12, 1949 in Marion, IN to the late David Warren and Almira Sue (Brock ) Davis. John was a 1967 graduate of Mississinewa High School. He went on to serve 6 years in the U.S. Navy, aboard US submarine Ulysses S. Grant; stationed out of Charleston, SC. John was honorably discharged with the rank of 1st Class Machinist Mate in 1974. He attended the IU School of Business in Bloomington and graduated in 1976 with a degree in Accounting. John was an entrepreneur with several successful businesses. He was unafraid of a challenge; jumping from the van conversion industry in Elkhart, to a CAD CAM engineering firm in Indianapolis. John was a fearless leader and demonstrated tremendous courage in all aspects of his life. He exuded positivity, even in the most challenging times of his illness. John’s smile and quick wit could light up a room; he didn’t go to a party, he WAS the party. He was known to enjoy time spent traveling with his family; playing golf and softball. John was especially proud of his multiple Senior Softball World Series wins. When he wasn’t participating in athletics, he enjoyed watching them. John could often be found cheering on the IU Men’s Basketball team and supporting the Indianapolis Colts. However, his favorite joy in life was spending time with his ‘girls’. John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Claudia (Parrish) Davis; adoring daughters, Jodi (Nathan) Statzer of Pendleton, Kelli Davis of Fishers, Courtney (Shawn Bottom) Davis of Mooresville; and 3 cherished grandchildren, Chloe, Josie and Orion. John is also survived by his sisters, Kathy (Warren) Collins of Grandhaven, MI and Suzi (Ernie) Brown of Marion, IN; sisters-in-law, Patricia Dorton of Indianapolis and Linda (Greg) Fuller of Marion, IN. John was always known as ‘The Favorite Uncle’ to his many nieces and nephews and their children. He will be deeply missed by his many close friends. John also leaves behind his faithful companion, a Yellow Lab named Harley Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Patricia Hayes. A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 2pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Geist with a time of gathering immediately following.
