John A. Benson

John A. Benson, 82, of Carmel passed away April 1, 2019.  He was born April 30, 1936, in Cincinnati, OH, the son of the late John B. and Violet (Carnes) Benson.  He married Reba Gaillard on October 31, 1964.

John graduated from Withrow High School, Cincinnati, OH in 1954 and then proudly served in the United States Air Force.  He had many fond memories of playing basketball in the Air Force.  After his service he was an executive in the Coil Coating and Industrial Paint Industries spending much of his career with Hanna Paint, Roll-Coater and retired in 2001 from Akzo Nobel. He was an avid golfer and a long-time member of Woodland Country Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Reba Benson; four children, Tammy (Sam) Russ, John P. Benson, Marc (Holly) Benson, and Tracy (G.R.) Hutton; daughter-in-law Eileen Benson; nine grandchildren, David Russ, Grant Hutton, Parker Benson, Matt Hutton, Bridget Benson, Victoria Benson, Jack Benson, Molly Benson, and Eddie Benson; two great grandchildren, Alexa Krause and Adam Russ; sister, Louise (Jim) West; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in passing by a grandson, Jordan Russ.
