Joan Terrell

Joan DesJardins Terrell, age 94, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2022.  She was born in South Bend, Indiana on October 26, 1927.   Joan attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.  While living in Bloomington, she met Clifford Terrell.  They married in 1949 and had three sons.  Joan worked full time at Sears in the office as a bookkeeper and was promoted to office manager.  She finished her accounting degree and graduated in January 1980.  She worked as an accountant.  Joan attended St. Michael’s Catholic Church and was an active and dedicated parishioner.  She is preceded in death by her husband Clifford Terrell, her parents Rauol and Marguerite DesJardins, and by her sister Marguerite DesJardins.  She is survived by her three sons Brett Terrell, Brian (Terri) Terrell and Patrick (Kathy) Terrell; six grandchildren Courtney (Meghan) Terrell, Casey (Stefanie) Terrell, Elizabeth (Paul) Terrell, Christian (Emily) Terrell, DanaSofie (Fernando) Casanova, and Ileana Nehring-Terrell; six great grandchildren Jack, Edison, Leona, Michael, Esperanza and Khulai.   Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. with visitation from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan (2706 Kessler Boulevard) on September 19.   The funeral mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church (3354 W 30^th St) on September 20 at 10:30 a.m. with a graveside ceremony following at Washington Park North Cemetery (2708 Kessler Blvd West Drive).   Memorial contributions can be made in her honor at Little Sisters of the Poor, Catholic Relief Services or St. Vincent DePaul.
