Joan M. Dodd, of Indianapolis was born February 10th, 1929, to Orrin and Marie (Riedel) Pixley, who preceded her in death, as well as her husband Eugene Dodd and brother, Ronald Pixley.
Joan graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1948. She married Eugene Dodd, and they raised 2 sons, Larry and Dale Dodd. Joan’s artistic flair was enjoyed by many. She designed countless beautiful floral arrangements, and sketched and painted throughout her life. Sharing art with loved ones was her passion and joy. Joan was an accomplished and avid Bridge player. She wrote columns for the Sports Car Club of America newsletter, and edited the Indiana State Skeet Shooting Association newsletter. A devout Catholic, Joan supported charities and volunteered for the Little Sisters of the Poor.
Joan’s survivors include sons, Larry (Jill) and Dale (Sherrie), grand daughters Dede Storms, Sara Knight, and Dusty Doerr, great grandsons, Jacob Eastwood, Mason and Ethan Doerr, Royce Eugene Knight and great-great grandson Hudson Doerr. Thanks to Prairie Lakes Health Campus staff for caring for Joan the last three years, especially Angie, Jess, and Isaac.
Calling will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis 46250. A Catholic funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
