Joan Clair Stiffler

Joan Clair Stiffler passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.  Joan was born in Decker, Indiana on August 12, 1929, the daughter of Charles and Eloise Byrd. She was a 1947 graduate of Muncie Central High School.

She worked in several secretarial positions and then as the office manager for her husband’s business, Design & Drafting Service, Inc for over 30 years. However, her true profession was wife and mother. She was married to Don for 67 wonderful years. He preceded her in death in April of 2020. She was a devoted loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She served as a taxi service for her sons and their friends, chief typists for all their high school and college papers, and loved to cook for her family (with sugar added to virtually everything).  As one of her close friends stated upon learning of her passing, “if you ever left the Stiffler house hungry, it was your own damn fault.” She liked to square dance, play in lively card and domino games, and host get togethers with her many close friends.

Surviving are her sons Mike (Kathy), Mark (Cindy), and Scott (Debbie); grandchildren Mikel (Brandon Joachim), Joel, Drew, Mitchell, Ryan, and Nolan Stiffler; nieces Marsha (Stu Thompson), and Cynthia (Gary Gardner). She also leaves her very best friend Nadine Phillips and her “adopted” son Mike Beal.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a future date yet to be determined.
