Janice Dee Nevitt

Janice Dee Nevitt, 82, of Lawrence, Indiana, passed away on March 15, 2023. She was born on September 4, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents, Ernest Quakenbush and Marjorie (Johnson) Quakenbush.
Janice grew up in the Church of God, singing in the choir and loving our Lord. She graduated from Broad Ripple High School. She met her husband, Bob when he was a medic in the Army stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison. They married on October 4th, 1958 and resided in Lawrence, Indiana. She was a homemaker until her children were in school, she also was a member of the Lawrence Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years.
She worked at Lawrence North HS cafeteria and then worked in administrative assistant positions at Harry Moore Funeral Home, Hausman Steel, and retiring from Ambassador Steel in 2008.
Janice loved the holidays, she made them very special for everyone. She loved her family and always a kind word for everyone. You were always welcome in her home. She and Bob enjoyed camping on the weekends for many years. She loved reading, playing solitaire, word searches, bird watching and listening to music. She loved all kinds of music and had over 200 CDs in her collection.
Janice is survived by her daughter, Janet (Bob) Young; daughters in law, Debbie (Joe), Debbie (Bob) Nevitt; brother Tim (Sandi) Quakenbush; grandchildren, Aaron (Leslie)Coleman, Sarah (Will)Nevitt-Burton, Amanda Nevitt, step grandson James Fleek; Nephew Darrell (Dorothy) See; cousins, Margie and Tyler Fox, great -grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, and loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Marjorie Quakenbush; loving husband of 51 years, Robert E. Nevitt; and sons, Robert and Joseph Nevitt.
Graveside services will be held at 1pm on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Washington Park East Cemetery. Friends may gather with the family in the parking lot just outside of the cemetery offices (green double doors) at 12:45pm and we will process out as a group to the gravesite.
