Janice D. Porter (Watts), 92, of Indianapolis passed away on February 22, 2023. She was born in Hallie, Kentucky to Alice and Arthur Watts, on August 6, 1930. She was the eldest of 9 children. Janice graduated with an associate degree from Pikeville College. She later went on to work as a Public School Teacher for Indianapolis Public Schools for many years. She also worked at Eli Lilly Corporation. Janice met the love of her life, William A. “Bill” Porter, through their mutual job at Mallory Corporation. They were married on April 25, 1953. Together they spent 45 years creating a wonderful life with wonderful memories. Janice enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was an avid genealogist. Her and her son took many trips to libraries to learn all they could. Janice will be missed sorely by all the lives she has touched.
Janice is survived by her son, Randall “Randy”; her granddaughter, Patricia; and her siblings, Sharon, Carolyn, and Mac.
Janice is preceded by her parents, Alice and Arthur Watts; her husband, William A. “Bill” Porter; her son, Ken; and 5 siblings.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 4-8PM at Flanner Buchanan—Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington St. A funeral service will be held the following day at the funeral home at 1PM. Janice will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery.
