Janice B. George

Janice B. George, 95, of Indianapolis, passed away March 7, 2020. She was born on April 29, 1924 to the late Leslie Edward and Ida Dawn Waltman Birt in Indianapolis.

After graduating high school, Janice went on to work as a press operator at Western Electric and was a dedicated employee for 34 years before retiring in 1982.

She loved being a mother and grandmother. Over the years, Janice would often go to visit her daughter and son-in-law on the west coast and spend time with her grandson. In more recent years, she often would tell her friends the stories of her trips out west, creating forts/tents in her daughter’s living room, where she and her grandson would have picnics and play for hours.  Janice enjoyed crafting and was known for her “perfect” cross stitch artwork.

Janice is survived by her beloved daughter, Carla Russ; son-in-law, John Russ; and grandson, Nicholas Russ.

She is preceded in death by her sister Vera Dawn Harrell, parents and many cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, 46229 from 12noon to 1PM with a funeral service to begin at 1PM.
