Janet Ruth (Huffine-Crider) Pitcock, 84, of Westfield,In. Formerly of Avon, entered Heaven’s gates on January 21, 2020. Born May 11, 1935 in Indianapolis, In., to Charles and Gladys Faye Huffine. She was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School. In 1960 she received her cosmetology license and excelled at a career in hairdressing for 12 years. She married Robert Crider on June 28, 1969 and became a devoted mother to her 2 daughters. After Robert’s passing Janet focused all of her energy into raising her girls. She then found love again with Terry Pitcock and they married July 17,1998. She retired in 2007 as a receptionist at Plainfield Healthcare. Janet was an active member of John Knox Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She was also an active member of PEO, as well as a life long member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Janets passion was family. She was the glue that held her family together. Her home was always open and she entertained all of her family and friends at lake Shaffer throughout the summer. In her retirement, she and Terry especially looked forward to yearly trips with friends. She enjoyed watching sports, doing cross-stitch, and feeding and watching the birds. Her last job was that of once a week babysitting her youngest grandchild. It was a true joy for her in her last years. She was a very active grandmother to all of her beloved grandchildren. She may be best known for her infectious laugh. A true Christian woman with the kindest spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her husband Terry Pitcock, daughters Cynthia Palmer, Nancy Beck (Micah), stepdaughters Kathy Winchester (Don), Linda Wilcox (Scott), Brenda Spritzer (Tim), sister Charlene Roach and grandchildren (Max, Makayla, Micah, and Audrey).
Preceded in death by parents Charles Combs Huffine and Gladys Faye (Reynolds) Huffine, husband Robert K Crider, siblings Robert Huffine (Patricia), Richard and Elenor Huffine, and Marilyn Landon (Tom).
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 11:00 am at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 3000 N. High School Rd. Speedway, IN. 46224. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2020 4:00pm-8:00pm at Flanner Buchanan- Speedway, 2950 N. High School Rd. Speedway, IN. 46224.
